Republicans for Voldemort Versus Republicans for Harry Potter?

I saw this bumper sticker locally this week, which I assumed was a parody:

And it made me think: where are the moderate Republicans? Where are the Republicans who would meet their opponents half way? Where are the Republicans who want to preserve our national security, our national financial reputation, our valued Medicare and Social Security programs and keep them funded and viable? Where are the small business owners whose own healthy retirements depend on Medicare? Where are the heirs of President Eisenhower, President Reagan, or even Barry Goldwater? All three of these in different ways warned the Republican Party of the dangers of relying overly on the vested interests of the political-military complex in the case of Eisenhower, and more privately on the right wing crazies in the case of Goldwater and Reagan. Would the moderate Republican Party please make its voice heard in the forthcoming Primaries so we don’t get a crazy, Tea Party endorsed ‘foamer’ as the alternative to President Obama?

What would Barry Goldwater say? Well he said in 1996: ‘Do not associate my name with anything you do. You are extremists, and you’ve hurt the Republican party much more than the Democrats have.’
