Gini Index 0.38!: Another Occupy Wall Street Slogan

I guess one of the ways that Occupy Wall Street needs to become more economically literate is by knowing about the Gini Index, which measures inequality. The Gini Index is 0 if everyone has the same income, and 1 if Bill Gates or whoever earned everything. You can see on the map at the bottom how the world is on this measure.

And notice some of the countries that share the level of income inequality with the USA: Argentina, Iran, Venezuela, China, Mexico, Russia, Nigeria…..

So another Occupy Wall Street Slogan might be: Gini Index of .38! (aka when Truman was in the White House)
