Groucho Marx’s Top Ten Conflict Tips

Well Groucho Marx (1890-1977) had a certain way of handling conflict, and some of this comes out in these quotes of his:

  1. ‘I don’t care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members’.
  2. ‘Humor is reason gone mad.’
  3. ‘I have had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn’t it.’
  4. ‘Marriage is a wonderful institution, but who wants to live in an institution?’
  5. ‘Military intelligence is a contradiction in terms.’
  6. ‘Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.’
  7. ‘The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you’ve got it made.’
  8. ‘Those are my principles, and if you don’t like them… well, I have others.’
  9. ‘Blessed are the cracked, for they shall let in the light.’
  10. ‘He may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot but don’t let that fool you. He really is an idiot.’
