The Bankruptcy of Conservatism by John Maynard Keynes

‘They offer me neither food nor drink — intellectual nor spiritual consolation… [Conservatism] leads nowhere; it satisfies no ideal; it conforms to no intellectual standard, it is not safe, or calculated to preserve from the spoilers that degree of civilisation which we have already attained.’

John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946), on the intellectual bankruptcy and indeed failure to conserve of conservatism. Keynes, the economist, who basically saved capitalism from itself in the 1930s and 1940s, and set the scene for post war posterity, and is totally misunderstood by almost every conservative I have ever heard comment on him, and most of all by the so called Neo-Keynesians, who also never seem to have read him…..
