Co-creation in Conflict

I just discovered the marvelous word co-create, which though developed for marketing and other purposes, I think has huge applications in conflict. In particular, the fourth stage of the Creative Conflict Model behind this blog envisages the two sides in conflict (having ‘got realistic’ and uncovered each other’s underlying Interests) start asking the question ‘what if’ and jointly , co-creatively exploring the solution space of the conflict, to generate all sorts of new options to resolve the conflict without any commitment. These options can then be considered against each side’s Interests before a deal is made.

I thought this image captured perfectly the concept of shared mind space to generate new conflict resolving options. Of course now I go to re-Google it, it has already disappeared so I can’t credit it…
