Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement: Conflict Humor

Much is quite rightly made of the concept of BATNA or Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement in negotiations. It is your walk away alternative, and decides how much power you likely have in the negotiation: the better your BATNA the less need for you have to settle for a bad deal and you should never settle for a deal that is worse than your BATNA.
